About Us

An Engineering Firm That Thinks Like a Builder.
===============================================

We founded DNB Engineering because we were tired of seeing good projects derailed by unresponsive engineers and unbuildable plans. We built a firm that treats architects as collaborators, developers as investors whose time actually matters, and contractors as partners in the field.

The DNB Difference

Why We Built DNB
----------------

Building in New York City is not like building anywhere else. Tight lots, aging neighbors, DOB filings, schedules that don't forgive delays. Every project comes with constraints that demand more than textbook engineering. And too many firms treat construction as someone else's problem. They deliver a set of permit-approved drawings and disappear, leaving the architect to mediate field issues and the contractor to figure out how to actually build the design.

We work differently. A design is only any good if it can actually be built, and in this city that might mean a congested Brooklyn corner lot, a Manhattan walkup with tenants upstairs, or a foundation a few inches off a neighbor's wall. So we think about means, methods, and sequencing from the first sketch, and we don't overengineer to save ourselves calculation time. We also answer the phone when the field calls. You get engineering support through the whole construction phase, not just until the DOB stamp lands.

Our Leadership

Leadership

The Team Behind the Plans
-------------------------

### Daniel Bressler, Principal & Founder

Daniel founded DNB because he was tired of engineering that solved one problem by creating three more. He knows the math. He also knows how a building actually goes together once it leaves the page, which turns out to make a difference.

Architects work with him because he reads design intent and protects it. Contractors keep calling because his drawings are clear, his solutions are buildable, and he answers the phone when something has to be decided before the concrete pour at 7am. Developers stick around because he treats a schedule with the same care he treats a moment connection.

### Nikolay Kusakin, Project Engineer

Nikolay has 15 years of engineering experience and a thoroughness that borders on obsessive. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York and earned his Master's at City College in 2023, where he and Daniel first met.

He has a knack for turning complicated structural requirements into drawings a contractor can build from without guessing. By the time a set leaves our office, the field crew should not have to fill in the blanks.
